Hey kids.
I apologize for the absence. I've been kinda busy, and a little sick.
Yeah, I bought a Wii, along with the mandatory copy of Zelda (which I will delve into in a minute). The Wii is difficult to describe. I think I'll settle for smooth. The entire package is modern, sleek, and user friendly. The interface is simple and easy to use. I had some trouble getting it connected to the Intarw3bs (it requires the use of a wireless channel that is not standard, for some damn stupid reason), but once I did, my opinion only rose.
And so did my blood pressure, because Nintendo is a bunch of brilliant bastards. Their downloadable content is choice. I connected to the WiiShop channel, and nearly blew $80 on old school games. Sonic, Zelda, Mario, Golden Axe...oooh, Nintendo, you had me at hello!
They also have several games (Toejam & Earl, Kid Icarus) that people never shut up about, but I haven't been able to play. I guess now I'll get my chance.
The system comes with Wii Sports, which is a very nice tech demo.
So, Zelda! What to say? It's very enjoyable, but then again I've played this game before. To those of you that never experienced Link on the N64, you're in for a treat. For those of you that have, you're in for more of the same.
I'm a little bitter about this. Please don't misunderstand, I am enjoying Twilight Princess! It's just that...well, it seems like a step backwards in many ways. There is nothing innovative about it. I mean, even Majora's Mask added something new, and I hated that game! I know a lot of people avoided Wind Waker because of the art style, but those that did are really missing out. That game was solid all the way through, and added a lot of really neat stuff. I don't care what people say, battling Krakens and searching for sunken treasure was fun!
Thus far, Twilight Princess hasn't really "wowed" me, or shown me anything new. Yeah yeah yeah, you can turn into a wolf. Whatever. Okami did that, and better. Is that a fair comparison? Maybe not, but I'm not pretending to be fair.
Outside of the repitition, Twilight Princess is a fine game. I don't understand why people are complaining about the graphics. I hear some comparing them to Ocarina of Time, which is ludicrous. Look at this Link, as opposed to this Link (haha, links to Link! I'm so clever!). The difference is clear.
The Wii controls for the game are entertaining, and more than one masturbation joke has been made at my expense whilst playing it. I feel less in control while in combat, but that's not a bad thing...it makes mass melees a frantic swing-fest, which is a lot of fun! And using the Wiimote to shoot your bow is also awesome to the max!
If the '80s call, take a message. I'm not quite ready to give their slang back.
Anyway, that's my opnion as of now. If history repeats itself, I should be hitting the "Zelda Twist" in the game shortly. If it changes anything, I'll let you know!
That's all for now. Peace out!
