BUBBLEHEARTHLOLOLOL!!1!

So, Ptolus got a bit of a reboot last night. Almost half the team has been switched out, and the group dynamic is now far different than it once was...which is not necessarily a bad thing.

At one point at the game, my new character had to interact with my old character. It brings talking to oneself to a whole new level. I didn't do a very good job, as I suddenly became very self-concious, which made it difficult to switch mind-sets easily. Ah well. No big deal!

Anyway, I think I'm going to enjoy my new character. To summarize, he's a paladin with a damn shady past that he's attempting to repent for. He's got a lot of depth, and I've never been able to play a paladin before, so I'm looking forward to it. :D

The only thing I'm a little miffed with is the paladin class mechanics. Quite frankly, the paladin class is weaksauce. The first five levels are fantastic. Past that, pallys are simply terrible. Their 3.5 revision did very little, and there is very little reason to continue with the class after you get your ride. If you really need the ability to Remove Disease once a week, then by all means go to level 6...but chances are you've got a cleric with you, in which case the ability becomes a bit lame.

I guess that's what prestige classes are for, but there aren't many to chose from for paladins. I have two lined up right now...the Knight of the Pale, or the Grey Guard. The Knight of the Pale is very cool. Basically, as you level up you get 'suites' that you can choose to activate at the beginning of the day that give you fantastic buffs and abilities. At higher levels you can even forge your own Holy Avenger, which is awesome! The downside: craptastic skills. These fuckers don't even get Ride, which is a horrendous oversight in my opinion.

As much as I'd love to pick up that class, I'm still keeping the Grey Guard in mind. The Grey Guard is basically a paladin that is willing to do whatever it takes to root out evil (torture, lie, steal, whatever). Their smite can harm anyone (not just evil), and at later levels the can perform acts of evil for their church or cause without fear of losing their Lawful Good alignment.

The Grey Guard might fit my character better. I'm not sure. I haven't had the chance to play him much (only one game, actually, and I was playing two people...), so I guess I'll just let things develop and see how they go.

In other news, vampire sex is simply no fun.
