I had a very relaxing weekend, which was a nice change of pace. Not reading the news helped quite a bit, I think. It's hard to calm down when you're actively searching the internet for things that you know are going to piss you off.
I played a metric crap-ton of WoW this weekend. I got my paladin up to level 30 (three levels), and my shaman halfway through 66. The best part is that I actually got to play with people most of that time. WoW is a hell of a lot of fun when you've got a posse rolling with you.
Actually, it's getting to the point that I can't play WoW by myself. I get super bored, super fast. Playing with one other person is okay, but the game really shines when in a group of three or more people get together to play. It should happen more often, but alas most of my friends have radically different schedules. Ah well. Such is life.
I also wish I had more time for instances. Unless I'm in an instance, I don't feel sufficiently challenged. WoW is not a difficult game by any stretch of the imagination, and instances also force a measure of group cohesion that is not found outside of them. I love that kind of shit.
On a side note, I was thinking this morning about the Metal Gear Solid game that Mase and I were going to run back in the day, and suddenly got the urge to pick up a copy of Spycraft d20 and start working on a campaign. I can't afford an RPG book right now, unfortunately, so that's not going to happen. Not that it matters, as I don't have time to run anything like that anyway, and if I did I fear that there are a couple of people that would react violently if I told them that my next game involved secret government agents with bizarre codenames and supernatural powers attempting to overthrow first world countries using bipedal nuclear tanks!
Anyway, enough babbling about a imaginary stuff!
I've a couple of neat links for you today. First of all, I hear they're making a Prince of Persia movie. This is both good and bad. Good, because I adore the Prince of Persia games. Bad, because video game movies are traditionally ass. Let's hope they don't screw this one up too bad!
Secondly, for my Exalted playing friends out there, here's a little blurb about Social Combat that kind of offers a little insight into how you could use the mechanic effectively. As everyone who games with me knows, I'm not a huge fan of Social Combat, but this post shed a little light onto how it interacts with NPCs much better than the rulebook does. This should be helpful for Kev, who hates Social charms. Long story short: Solars mind-frell anyone they damn well feel like, and there's not a whole hell of a lot your NPCs can do about it, particularly if they're mortal.
That'll be all for now. Peace!
