Evil is good!

Ran Star Wars last night, which went...slow. I didn't think that character creation would take so long, but then again we only had two books, so I don't know why I'm surprised. Speed is not something our group is known for.

The game itself was so-so. I have the basic premise down for the plot, but I realized that I once again put the power in the players' hands, which has so far proven to be about as effective as taking an aspirin to get through a nice long racking.

My players need railroads. They're useless without them. They make the laziest heroes you will ever meet.

Also, my players are not really Star Wars geeks like I am, so it's hard to get them excited about stuff. I say things like "Super Star Destroyer", "New Jedi Order", "Sarlaac Pit", or "Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-1300 freighter", and the majority of them stare at me blankly. I'm not really catering to the right crowd. It's been my experience that my players don't really like sci-fi in general, and they're not all that wild about pulp, so...yeah. Star Wars is pretty much right out.

Bastards.

I downloaded the Overlord demo. What is Overlord? It's kind of like Pikman...but instead of plants you get goblins, and instead of putting together your spaceship you're rebuilding your Dark Tower and killing the heroes that bumped off your predecesor. You send your goblins to kill and pillage their way across the land. They'll pick up any useful items they come across (such as weapons, armor, and dresses) and equip them, increasing their destructive power. As Scott Sharkey at 1up put it:
"It's like something Peter Molyneux might have done if he simultaneously grew a sense of humor and the ability to finish a game."
I'll tell you something: Peter Molyneux jokes never get old!

The game's a bit of a drain on my system, which only reinforces me desire to upgrade. Might do that this weekend.

That's all for now. Peace!

Part of the slow process in character creation was for the most part, that was the first time people had looked inside the book. Most people are really in to creating a good character in that min/max way. I do it sometimes too. But that what took so long. And we only had 2 books.

and Dj showed up late and created a really big min max character. ::ahem::

Did you notice that most of the group weren't deciding what they wanted to play until after they looke at the book? I did.

I love star wars. I just don't remember what everything is called and whatnot. I also haven't seen any of the star wars movies since episode III in the theatre. I need a refresher course. I think everyone else does too.

But yes, our group needs railroads. We need to reminded what the job is and why we need to do it consatantly; at least 2 times per session. I hope we give it another shot becuase I like my droid character. And I spent $30 on this book damnit!

Darn straight you are playing with the wrong group!!! Do any of them own a $300 light saber?

Psch! I told you that you should have waited.

Railroads are like Malt-O-Meal...they're good for you. They're like soup...They're like...nothing bad, let me tell you that much!
