Webcomics!

So, it's been a while. To summarize my life the past few months: what in the flying fuck is wrong with people?!

That being said, I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite things. We've already covered books and movies to some degree in the past, so let's start cover a new topic: webcomics!

Webcomics hold a special place in my heart. I discovered them several years ago, and have been avidly reading them ever since stumbling accidentally onto Keenspot.

Here is a list of a few of my faves.

Penny Arcade, by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins. Updated MWF. Probably the most successful webcomic of all time. These guys have created a sort of bizzarre nerd media empire, complete with the biggest video game conference in North America. The comic is typically about video games, either the games themselves or the business surrounding them. It is accompanied by a blog entry, which is sometimes necessary to read in order to understand the comic. A warning for the squeamish: this comic makes frequent use of profanity and violence.

PvP Online, by Scott Kurtz. Updated M-F. Once upon a time, this comic was about video games. Now, it has more in common with its syndicated cousins than anything else. Lots of pop culture references, wacky re-occuring jokes and top-knotch art make this one of the best webcomics out there.

Real Life Comics, by Greg Dean. Updated M-F. A comic loosely based on the life of its creator. Whimsical humour, and always a pleasure to read.

The Perry Bible Fellowship, by Nicholas Gurewitch. This comic is no longer being made, sadly. One of the most demented things I've ever read, and so good!

The Adventures of Dr. McNinja, by Chris Hastings and Kent Archer. Updated MWF. This is exactly what you think it is.

Order of the Stick, by Rich Burlew. Updated occasionally. A strip about Dungeons and Dragons. I haven't been keeping up on this one, but it's always fun to build up a backlog to work through!

VG Cats, by Scott Ramsoomair. Updated ever year or so. Another video game-based comic, but far more demented than most. Updated irregularly at best.

Three Panel Soul, by Matt Boyd and Ian McConville. Updated occasionally. These guys originally did MacHall, a now-defunct comic that I used to patron, and their latest outing is just as good. It covers all manner of subjects.

Anyway, that's all for now. Peace!
