Muh-MUh-MUH-MONSTER BLOG!!!

Whew! Been a while, eh?

Sorry about the lack of posts. Truth is, I used to blog at work when I was bored, but I changed jobs and no longer have the time I once did.

Crap, it's been a month, eh? Crazy. Let's see, we'll start with a pic to get things going!

Nice, eh? Did that practicing wushu in my living room. FYI, don't kick your floor. You'll lose.

I've got all sorts of topics to cover. We'll start with...

New Job!
So, the new job. I'm basically proofreading scientific reports now. Which isn't too bad. Boring, yes. But it pays well, and now I get things like paid time off, health insurance, and similar things of that nature. Which is pretty friggin' awesome. I made eight-hours worth of pay today, and I haven't done jack besides paint Warhammer figures and watch Ranma 1/2 with my girl. I wish every day was like that.

The bad thing about my job is the last-minute crap that gets dumped on me. I get into a lot of conversations like this:
BIOLOGIST: Hey, can you proof this for me?
ME: Sure, when's it due?
BIOLOGIST: By the end of the day.
ME: It's 50 pages!
BIOLOGIST: Yeah, sorry. Oh, and I need 16 copies.
ME: But...but it's 2:30! Mail goes out at 3:00!
BIOLOGIST: Oh really? I didn't know.
ME: Yes you did! I know you knew, because I told you this the last time you pulled this crap...which was yesterday!
BIOLOGIST: Oh. Oops. Well, good luck!
ME: /wrists

Ah well. The pay helps ease the pain.

Moving on! Next up is...

Links!
The perfect gift for your girlfriend!
The landlord from Hell.
The only place to stay in Texas.
Awesome song.

Games!
We'll start with MMOs. First off, Lord of the Rings Online. I played the free trial, and my verdict is "Go play WoW". LotRO isn't bad, but it just didn't do anything that made me go "Wow, that was awesome!" Also, I hear that Moria is not in the game, which seems to be a foolish oversight on their part. And if you play a hobbit, you don't start in the Shire? Who the fuck designed this game? Uwe Boll? If I make a fucking hobbit, I had better start in the fucking Shire! Period!

The game also made me nervous because of all the places that are missing, like Gondor and Rohan. I have a sneaking suspicion that each area will set you back a couple of bucks, and that just isn't cool.

I recently tried out EVE Online, which is a sci-fi MMO that's all about spaceships. Goddamn, that game is pretty! Simply beautiful! The music is also perfectly suited for the game. If I had more time, I'd totally play this game. Everything in it spoke of polish and love, and the highly complex gameplay was easy to learn and manipulate. The only downside...it takes for-frelling-EVER to do ANYTHING. You need buckets of time to do anything worthwhile in the game, and time is a commodity I seem to be short on recently. Ah well.

Sid Meier's Pirates! was fun for five or six hours. Then it got tedious and redundant, and I stopped playing it.

I picked up Odin Sphere yesterday, and damn, that's another pretty game. And the music! Holy shit, the music is amazing! I haven't progressed very far in the game, but I will say one thing for it: it ain't easy. It's been awhile since I've played a game like this (a 2D side-scrolling beat-em-up), and it shows in my slow reaction times. The fact that you can't save all that often also increases the difficulty. All in all, it has served to remind me what games used to be like, and that I sucked at them. Point made, Atlus. Point made.

Kev and I have been playing Dawn of War again. That game is fantastic. For those of you that don't have it, you suck. Also, now you no longer have an excuse.

Other Stuff!
I've been painting my Warhammer miniatures. My first unit of Dark Elves is almost complete! I'll have pics up when they're finished! Damn do those guys take a lot of time, but I really enjoy painting them!

Read the first three Dune books again. They're fantastic. Reading the Song of Ice and Fire books again. They are also fantastic.

I'm pretty much done. I'll try and be more consistant with my blog entries!

Peace out!
